Don’t just take our word for it! Why professional award writers matter

As professional business writers, we love shining a spotlight on our clients’ achievements by helping them become finalists or winners of industry awards. Whether for a national-level or industry-specific accolade, or an individual award recognising their personal contribution, we put our heart and soul into telling their stories in the best possible light.

Many of our clients come to us after realising their own limitations. They’re experts in their field, for example, but they’re not writers. Or they’ve entered awards before, but haven’t received the recognition they deserve. The experience we bring matters – and our clients are best-placed to explain why.

Cathy Brown – Activ8 Finance

Cathy called upon Proof Communications because she knew writing was not her forté. After attempting a first draft herself, she was plagued with self-doubt and even questioned her worthiness for an award. “The whole experience reminded me that I’m a numbers person, not a words person. I knew I didn’t have the time or the skills necessary to put together a decent entry and that getting in touch with a professional would give me the best chance of success.”

And she was right! With our help, Cathy was announced as a finalist for a national finance award. Not only that, she went on to repurpose our content to become a national finalist in two further awards and winner of a third state award. “There is so much value in the work that was produced for me,” says Cathy. “Engaging Proof Communications was definitely an investment in me and my business – not an expense. So many doors have opened up for me as a result.”

Daniel Logue – Fairmont Homes

Daniel had entered his family company for a prestigious national housing award three times and, although a finalist in 2016, he didn’t make the cut in 2017. Acknowledging their limitations was key to Daniel calling upon Proof Communications for help. “We’re great at building but when it comes to entering an award, we wouldn’t have the first clue. We’ve got the answers but putting our thoughts into words is a big struggle for us. Proof Communications really helped us by putting forward ideas we would never have considered.”

To Daniel’s delight, Fairmont Homes went on to be named winner at the 2018 awards. He’s adamant that working with a professional award writer made all the difference. “When I look back now at our previous entries and compare them with the entry Proof Communications put together, they’re like chalk and cheese. The end product resembled a coffee table book – it was so impressive.”

Petricia Augustus – MS Research Australia

With Proof Communications’ expert assistance, MS Research Australia won the trifecta of Telstra Business Awards in 2017, taking home the Business of the Year, Australian Charity of the Year and Outstanding Achievement categories. Being able to see their business from a different standpoint was key, according to Petricia. “Proof Communications was able to add value by looking at our business with an external focus,” she says. “It enabled us to look at how we could refine our responses to clearly communicate the incredible work our organisation has done.”

Proof Communications’ previous experience was also important, according to Petricia. “We could see they had a high success rate and had worked with charities before. It was important to us that our provider understand the not-for-profit sector, and that made Proof Communications the ideal choice.

Working with them was an easy process and they became part of our team for the week leading up to the submissions; they really added value.”
